Behind the Kitchen Door — a data-driven series from InspectFL

If you live in Bexley, you already know the community is growing fast — trails, pools, events, and a town center that’s starting to feel like a real neighborhood hub. But when you sit down at one of the restaurants along Focus Loop, how confident should you be in what’s happening behind the kitchen door?

We pulled every state inspection record for Bexley’s restaurants and the surrounding 34638 zip code — 27 restaurants total — to find out. If you’re new to our scores, learn how to read grades.

42.1%
Grade B

10.5%
Grade C

Nearly half earned an A grade, and most of the rest are B’s. That’s a strong showing — and notably, no restaurant in the area currently has an F. There are a couple of C’s worth knowing about, though — more on those below.

The Town Center: Bexley’s Cleanest Stretch

The restaurants along Focus Loop — the walkable heart of Bexley — are performing the best in the entire zip code:

  • 🟢 Urban Crunch — A (100) — Perfect score, zero violations
  • 🟢 Bexley Club — A (98.3) — Strong score despite minor date-marking issues
  • 🟢 Bella Brava Bexley — A (98.5) — One critical for a malfunctioning dishmachine sanitizer, otherwise clean
  • 🟢 Banh Mi Boba — A (96.3) — Still performing well with a solid A grade

Worth noting: Taco Bus is also on Focus Loop but didn’t make the clean list — they picked up 2 critical violations in December including an employee not washing hands before gloving and a missing vacuum breaker, landing them at a B (94.5).

If you’re grabbing dinner in the town center, the A-rated spots above are your safest bets.

Capital Tacos: Still Struggling

Capital Tacos on Land O’ Lakes Boulevard had a rough January 2026 inspection with cold holding violations, expired date-marked food, and missing employee training. Despite some improvement earlier, their score has dropped to a C (75.3).

They still have lingering issues — a stained cutting board, expired food in the walk-in, and continued cold holding problems flagged at recent follow-ups. Capital Tacos is a popular local chain, and this location still has work to do. See how chains vs. local restaurants compare across Florida.

The C-Graded Watch List

San Jose Mex has improved to a B (88.5) and is no longer on this list. But one restaurant still sits in C territory:

  • 🟠 Sweet Krunch Fried Chicken — C (72) — An admin complaint was recommended after inspectors found sanitizer at excessive concentrations, stained cutting boards, and unapproved renovations

Sweet Krunch’s September 2025 inspection was rough — 2 critical violations plus 10 more issues across two visits, and an administrative complaint was recommended for unapproved renovations. Their November follow-up still showed unresolved problems with cutting boards, excessive sanitizer concentration, and no plan review submitted. That’s one step below enforcement action.

Nearby on LOL Boulevard

Beyond Bexley’s town center, most of the area’s dining lines Land O’ Lakes Boulevard. Here’s how the corridor stacks up:

China StarB94.5
Wendy’sB91.8
New Tung Tung 2B91.5
San Jose Mex RestB88.5
Capital TacosC75.3

The boulevard is mostly A’s and B’s — from pizza spots to fast food. San Jose Mex has improved from a C to a B (88.5), while Capital Tacos has slipped to a C (75.3). The Pizza Pie and Little Greek both climbed to A grades.

The Bottom Line

Bexley’s town center is one of the cleanest dining stretches in Pasco County. Every restaurant on Focus Loop earned an A or high B — if you’re eating walkable from the community, you’re in great shape.

The surrounding area on LOL Boulevard is a mixed bag — mostly decent B’s, but a couple of spots to watch. We’ll keep tracking as new inspections come in. You can also explore the best restaurants in Florida or check our city rankings to see how Land O’ Lakes compares.
